Hope I don't get burned...
So, I was browsing ebay for decent deals, as per usual. Sometimes I get lucky and get an item at a really decent price. I have only been burned once, but it was for over $500 from a seller in the Netherlands. Ebay/PayPal do little to compensate buyers when they get stiffed by fraudulent sellers. After that particular buying blunder, I was compensated to the tune of $175 and the case was closed. I vowed to learn from it and never let it happen again.
Well, I think I may have just let it happen.....again. I saw this item and did as much checking up on the seller as I could. But, I think my greed got the best of me and I may have overlooked a possible sign or two. 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagle All of this seller's feedback is in french, so I used a language translator to read up on the negatives. Most of the buyers left positive feedback. It was only after I made the payment via PayPal that I noticed this seller's other auctions. All of which had a duration of one day. One of which was a 1 oz Gold Eagle with a "Buy It Now" price of about $300. He had other various gold coins (a total of about 4) with near similar prices as well. I'd provide links to these other auctions but, as I check now, he no longer appears to have any auctions that are active. Either A) Other people already bought them, hence the auctions are now closed, or B) He made multiple mistakes on the auctions and ended them early. I still can't help but getting the feeling that I set myself up for another hard lesson :banghead: Thoughts? |

Re: Hope I don't get burned...
OK, here's my burn story:
I logged in, saw an auction for a giant state quarter, way below spot with about 2 minutes left. I hurried up and signed in and bid. After I bid I realized I had bid a PayPal only auction with no PP account. The person was cool and took a MO. I got the quarter and was reading the back when I noticed it said .999 Pure Silver... ...Clad. Arrghhhhhh!!!! I chucked it at the wall. I looked close and noticed the copper peeking through. I re-read the ad, and in the body it says the things says on the back, clad. Of course, it didn't say it in the headline. But it was there in the text. I'm going to wait til silver gets maniacal and repost the same ad, same way, and hope for a bigger fool. It was only a few bucks, 33 or something. My tuition at eBay U. LG :puke: |
Re: Hope I don't get burned...
DONT BUY FROM OVERSEA SELLERS ON EBAY. 80% of them are scams. Why do you think you are getting such a good deal.
You can look for deals in the U.S on ebay. I just bought 33 1996 Silver American Eagles foes 41.50 each. I can sell them to my local dealer for $58 PROFIT of $545.00 |
